DLP4710: Optical module design, LED Specification

Part Number: DLP4710
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP470NE, DLPC3439, DLPC4422

Hi,

I am new to dlp.

1) I want to know that both DLP products DLP4710 and DLP470NE has same diagonal, then why price is different? from datasheet  www.ti.com/.../dlpa068a.pdf  both can provide same brightness.

2) How will be the optical module of DLP4710? the data sheet don't provide information about distance and angle? what should be the lens's specification?

3) Do TI has team for helping custom design?

4) what should be the specification of LED? Which manufacturer is good?

Thanks

  • Hello User,

Thanks for using the TI forums. I believe I can help your questions.

    1) I want to know that both DLP products DLP4710 and DLP470NE has same diagonal, then why price is different? from datasheet  www.ti.com/.../dlpa068a.pdf  both can provide same brightness.

    4) what should be the specification of LED? Which manufacturer is good? (Our reference design mentioned below has a bill of materials that will show you which LED we used).

The difference is the controller that is used to drive them. The DLP4710 DMD uses a dual DLPC3439 controller design, while the DLP470NE uses a single the DLPC4422 design. These controllers offer different features.
Also the DLP 4710 has an Evaluation Module (EVM) you can purchase HERE that has everything you need to display using DLP chipsets. That comes fully designed. This has a reference design as well with schematics and some design files, HERE. This reference design will have our Bill Of Materials that includes our LEDs.

    2) How will be the optical module of DLP4710? the data sheet don't provide information about distance and angle? what should be the lens's specification?  (Answered along with 3 below).

    3) Do TI has team for helping custom design?

As mentioned before we do sell an EVM that has some pre-built optics you can evaluate. If you are looking for custom optics you can reach out to some of our design partners.

    I hope that helps!
