DLPC6401: LVDS input format supported

Part Number: DLPC6401
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65DSI83,

Hello,

We have designed in Home Appliance Product in which we have interfaced "DLPC6401" with "SN65DSI83"(DSI To Single Channel FPD Link LVDS Bridge).

We have following queries in our design:

1) DLPC6401 accepts FPD compatible LVDS input but there are total 5 diff data pairs (Rx_IN_P/N) and one clock pair (RCK_IN_P/N) in DLPC6401 against only 4 diff data pairs and one clock pair in SN65DSI83. Can you advise how to handle the 5th data pair(RE_IN_P/N) in DLP as SNI65DSI83 has only 4 diff pairs??

2) Also, we need to make sure that SN65DSI83 LVDS Output format must match to DLP LVDS input format but when comparing SN65DSI83 datasheet to "Table 2(LVDS Receiver Supported Pixel Mapping Modes)" of DLP datasheet we are not able to map the data formats.

Can you please provide your feedback on this.

Also, if the SN65DSI83 bridge is not feasible with DLPC6401 then please suggest the bridge which is compatible with DLPC6401 as we have the only support of DSI interface from our processor so the bridge chip is mandatory in our design.

Regards,

Ronak

  • Hello!

Thank for using the DLP E2E forums. The DLPC6401 is capable of RGB10/10/10 video. The chip you mention is RGB888 equivalent. This mean from the table 2 of the DLPC6401 datasheet (attached) so I believe you will be using pin mapping option 4. See note 2 for further info of channels D and E.

    Hope that helps!

    Best,
