DLP9000X: Active array dimension specification and CAD model mismatch

Part Number: DLP9000X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP9000

Hi,

I have questions about DLP9000X.

I have downloaded DLP9000X DLP9000 DLP9500 Type A Mounting Concept with Tight Part Tolerances (Rev. A).

In assembly drawing there is nothing attached to DMD but in step file there is some kind of square attached to DMD.

What is that square attached to the DMD? Is that thermal pad which is glued to DMD? Does it comes together with DMD?

Also I have a question about interposer assembly. What is dimensions of interposer  cutout? I am pretty sure that 21,1 mm x 21,1 mm which I have measured in in step file are incorrect.

Best regards,

Kristaps

  • Kristaps,

The "square" on the back of the DMD is the thermal pad of the DMD and is an integral part of the DMD.

There is no need for something more other than a thermal compound or similar for the heat sink to make good contact with the DMD thermal area.

The dimensions of the cutout you mention for this DMD interposer sound about right for the horizontal but not the vertical.   The dimensions of the thermal area are shown at the bottom of the DLP9000/DLP9000X datasheet on sheet 4 of the mechanical drawings (page 57 of the pdf).  I would use the thermal pad size plus about 0.5 mm for a little bit of clearance around the thermal stud

We will have to review the mounting concept file to verify that the step file matches the correct DMD.

  • Where can I find a technical drawing of the DLP9000X interposer (Amphenol 8448-001)?
I need exact dimensions of the DLP9000X DMD interposer cutout.

    Best regards,
    Kristaps
  • Hello Kristaps,

The cutout in the DMD board is 22.35 x 15.5 mm.  The following Application Report has contact information at Amphenol/InterconSystems:

We cannot distribute any Ampehonol/ICS drawings since they are their property.  Please contact them for any drawings of the interposer.
