DLPC2607: DLPC2607

Part Number: DLPC2607
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP2000

Hi...

I am using DLPC2607 for DMD1000. Do i need to use another DSP for my application which requires image and video processing?

Pls help me regarding this.

Thanks and regards.

  • Trupti,

A host processor (such as a Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone Black) will need to provide parallel video input (typically RGB888 format) to drive the DLPC2607. The 2607 cannot provide a video signal on its own outside of internally stored splash screens and internal test patterns. As such, you will need an additional processor to provide video data.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,
    Philippe
  • Thanks for your reply..

But  I have a doubt, can I use MSP430 as host processor? Or  any other DSP rather than rasberry pi and beaglebone back?

Or if I am using media processor then is it mandatory to use DLPC 2607 for DMD?

    Pls suggest.

  • Hello Trupti,

The DLPC2607 is required to be used with the DLP2000 DMD. Additionally, a host processor will then be needed to input video. You can use any host processor that meets the 24-bit parallel input specifications found in the DLPC2607 datasheet. By default we support the Beaglebone Black and we have many customers who got it to work with the Raspberry Pi. I think it's unlikely an MSP430 would work as it doesn't have the correct video interface.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
