DLPC350: Desabling gamma correction in firmware

Part Number: DLPC350

Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to build a custom firmware desabling gamma correction in video mode? I want to reproduce the effect of I2C "Gamma correction" command  (0x31|0x80, 0x00), is there a parameters allowing to do it in the ".ini" file? Maybe "MACHINE_DATA.COLORPROFILE_0_BRILLIANTCOLORLOOK"? I could not find any information on it...

Best regards,

  • Hello Josselin,

Is there a reason you need to disable gamma correction in video mode instead of using the pattern mode? We will look into this; however, I don't know if it's possible, so it would be good to know what you are doing in case we can give you any alternatives.

    Thanks,

    Kyle

  • Hello Kyle,

Thank you for looking into my issue.

To answer your question: I want to have linear grayscale response from the DLP while having pattern coming from video input (HDMI). The tricky part is that I'd like to be able to do this without permanent I2C or USB connection, I want the DLP to work in this configuration by itself at startup. I experimented with these two solutions:

    1) being in patterning mode with video input and with the patterning sequence simply being "R-G-B" cycling at the frame rate. This works properly but the sequence is not starting by itself at startup and a "START" command has to sent at the beginning (-> USB or I2C connection...)

    2) being in video mode and switching off the gamma correction. This also work but by default the gamma correction is applied and the "Gamma correction" command has to be sent to remove it. That is why I was wondering if the default behavior could be changed using the firmware + ini file.

  • Hello Kyle,

Did you had time to look more into this ?

    Thanks,

    Josselin

  • Hi Josselin,

Unfortunately disabling gamma at bootup requires a firmware change, which may take time. There is no option to attach i2c commands with the FW on this platform. However, we will keep this in consideration for the next release.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hirak.
