DLP9000X: migration path between DLP9000 and DLP9000X

Part Number: DLP9000X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP9000, , DLPC900, DLPC910

Hi Team,

Could you please advise whether TI  has a migration path between DLP9000 and DLP9000X?

Could we use DLPC900 <-> DLPC910 ?

Does TI plan such migration?

Thanks in advance

regrads,

Shai

  • Hi Shai,

Welcome to the DLP section of TI E2E community. May I know your requirements.

  • Hi,

My customer are using DLP9000 and he wants to upgrade to DLP9000x.

Application: PCB inspection (advanced light control).

Please advise if TI has migration path between DLP9000 and DLP9000X?

    Thanks

    Shai

  • Hello Shai,

The DLP® controllers, DLPC900 and DLPC910, are very different architectures:

    • DLPC900 - is a video ASIC with custom firmware that enables advanced pattern control and manipulation. The input is RGB either from a video stream or patterns stored in memory that re-interpreted by the custom firmware.
    • DLPC910 - is an FPGA with custom programming allowing  very low level control of binary patterns.  The input is strictly binary patterns at very high speed.  Any illumination control (solid state modulation) or pattern display times must be implemented by the user in their front end processor.

The result is that there is not a direct migration path from one to the other.

HOWEVER, the mechanical interface is the same so that any optics designed for the DLP9000 should work without modification for the DLP9000X.

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi Fizix,

Yes, it helps. thanks for now.
