DLPLCR70EVM: Random pattern repeats a while after I select and display my own pattern on the DMD

Part Number: DLPLCR70EVM

Hello,

I am currently using the DLPLCR70EVM DMD alongside with the DLPLCR410EVM module. The DMD is connected to a windows 7 computer and is controlled via DLP discovery D4100 development kit. For some unknown reason, every time after a while, my selected pattern on the DMD gets replaced by some random pattern looping continuously. I am not sure of the cause of this problem and wonder how to fix it. Thanks in advance for possible help.

  • Hello Nuoyi,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E forums.

I have the following questions which will help in assisting you:

    • Which pattern mode are you running?
    • Are you using the built in test patterns?
    • Are you loading your own patterns and running?
    • Is the "random" pattern something recognizable (i.e. from one of the test pattern sets or you images, or is it noise:
      • Could you send a couple of pictures of the random patterns

  • The pattern I ran was a pattern with one corner on and the rest three off. I think the random pattern is like a looping of the test patterns though. Also, basically every time when the pattern gets switched, the D16 LED turned off and D2 LED lights up red, which I checked out the user manual and found the two to be said related to APPSFPGA Done. I do not entirely understand this part but hope this information is helpful. And sorry for that I do not have a picture right now.

  • Hello Nuoyi,

Have you altered the APPS_FPGA code at all?

Could you tell me the steps you are using to create and run your patterns?

We have not seen the behavior on the GUI that I am aware of.

Please make sure that your power supply is adequate.  This sounds like a possible power supply issue or USB communication issue.  You may also want to try a different USB cable (i.e. a different brand) to see if it helps.
