DLPDLCR470TEVM: Can get the DMD to display anything

Part Number: DLPDLCR470TEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC4422

I received it this week, and connected the 4422 to the 470tecm and a 5V supply.   Nothing seems to happen to the DMD.  I was able to communicate with the 4422 and load the projector file and went through the SPLASH image procedure.

Is another power supply needed?  Is there a jumper configuration I need to just put up test patterns?

  • Did you update the firmware to the DLP470TE-FW?  I believe the DLPC4422EVMs have DLP660 firmware on them by default.

Instructions are included in the DLPC4422 GUI User Guide (it is in the GUI install directory).

The only power supply required is the 12V supply to the DLPC4422EVM board.

  • I moved the jumper and loaded the projector file, and then did the flash loader procedure.

  • Just repeated the process.  No errors.  No splash screen.  USB comm seems OK.

All I want is to put test patterns on the DMD.  Do I need to add other connections (lamp, LED) to get the DMD to turn on?

I can bring the setup by TI.  I'm in Addison

  • My first comment would be to make sure you've removed the HOLD_BL jumper and power-cycle; it will not create an image in boot-hold mode.

Also, make sure the switch SW1 is flipped "ON" (see the picture in the EVM User's Guide).

Are you able to read status and other information from the various GUI Projector Control pages?

You should not need any lamp, LED, or color wheel connections to get a splash screen or test pattern on the DMD.
