DLP660TE: How to load grayscale image for DLP660TE evaluation module

Part Number: DLP660TE
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC4422, , DLPDLCR660TEVM, DLPLCRDC4422EVM

Hi

We just ordered a DLP660TE ecaluation module controlled by DLPC4422 GUI. We wanna display a customized grayscale image on the DMD, but I cannot find any option on the GUI to load the file. I also cannot find any help from the manual. Could you provide us a detailed step, such as the file format I need for displaying a grayscale image on DMD? We just need to display an image, with resolution matched with DMD, not the vedio. Thanks so much.

Best,

Zheng

  • Hello Zheng,

Thank you for using the DLP E2E forums.
The DLPLCRDC4422EVM controller & the DLPDLCR660TEVM DMD evaluation modules currently do not have the capability to load a custom image to the flash ,of the controller board, to display on the DMD. The only method of displaying a sort of grayscale image using only the two EVMs (DLP660TE and DLPC4422) are to use the Test patterns that can be found in the DLPC4422 GUI.

The following image illustrates the steps of how to display the Test Pattern on the DMD.
    1. Go to the Display submenu under Projector Control
    2. Change the Projection Mode to TestPattern and click on Set
    3. Change the TPG Pattern to either "1-Horizontal Ramp" or "2-Vertical Ramp" click on Set.

  • Thanks for the response.

So is there any way to project a customized image on DMD? If so, what else hardware do I need? Thanks so much.

    Hanyu

  • Zheng,

You will need a front-end board that interfaces with the EVM's V-By-1 interface to display your customized content. We recommended reaching out to front-end manufacturers, such as M-Star or iChips.

In the firmware package of the DMD EVM, you will also find an excel spreadsheet labeled as " DLP660TE_Vx1_Input_Video_Timings" that label the timing requirements that the Front-end will need to be configured with in order to operate with our EVM.

    Regards,
