DLP470TE: DLP470TE

Part Number: DLP470TE

Good day.

This might be the wrong place to ask, but I strongly sure you would help me.

At my projector Fengmi Cinema 4k that is work on DLP470TE chip made by your company, exist a problem called "screen door effect' or 1080 symptoms.

In real life 4k projector with a pixel-shifting technology shows only 1080p resolution.

Did you ever meet such a problem and any solution to fix it?

This is the video of the problem on my channel https://youtu.be/fmfntFacWxA

Hope for your help. Or coordinate me with some who could help.

Thank you in advance, Max

  • Max,

Thank you for using the DLP E2E forums.

First, I would recommend to also reach out to the manufacturer for support. They will have more information on their system then we would.
If there is an issue with the projectors optical system, then we will not be able to provide much support.

Second, from the video you shared I see you only show the home menu. Do you also see 1080p resolution when displaying 4k content?
The home menu could be set to be displayed at 1080p and will only revert to 4k once it displays 4k content.

    Regards,
    Oscar

  • Good day, Oscar

Thanks for your quick answer. Yes, no matter what content is played and which player or source is selected (tested with a laptop and 4k content from a flash drive)

I contacted other owners of same projector. And they shared the video work from the devices. The difference is noticeable even in the menu.

I have already contacted the representative of the manufacturer. They remotely confirmed the present defect.

Due to logistic difficulties it is not possible to return the projector.

How do you think replacing a DLP chip will help solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance
    Regards Max

  • Max,

If the manufacturer confirms that there is an issue with your device, your best option is to work with them.
Replacing the DMD wouldn't resolve this problem as the root cause is within optical path/pixel shifting circuit, not the DMD.

    Oscar
