DLPC6401: GUI and firmware

Part Number: DLPC6401

Hello,

I am designing a DLP control board with the DLPC6401. In various documents and posts, I see the DLPC6401 GUI tool mentioned. However, I cannot find a download link. Can you provide me with the download?

Also, I am unclear on the firmware requirements.

  • Is the USB connection needed or can I do everything over I2C?
  • Can I flash the boom ROM via the DLPC6401 or do I have to program it manually?
  • Where can I find an image for the boot ROM? Does TI provide it, or should I ask my optical module manufacturer?

Thank you in advance,

Kind regards,

Jim

  • Jim,

I'll loop in the team to check if and where the DLPC6401 GUI is available.

Are you working directly with an OMM?

    Regards,

    Philippe Dollo

  • Hello Jim,

Welcome to DLP forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology.

Please find resposne to oyur questions:

    • Is the USB connection needed or can I do everything over I2C?

USB connection is not required. You should be able ot normal development debug with I2C.

    • Can I flash the boom ROM via the DLPC6401 or do I have to program it manually?

External /manual programming of ROM will be efficient and faster. In order to program via DLPC6401 , the boot loader code must present in the flash. You need to use JTAG to load the boot loader.

    • Where can I find an image for the boot ROM? Does TI provide it, or should I ask my optical module manufacturer?

Please contact optical module manufacturer for the boot rom image. You may also ask them for the GUI. Unfortunately , the GUI is not available on TI website.

    regards,

    Vivek

  • Ok clear thank you. So do I understand correctly that, if I program the ROM, no boot loader will be required? This would imply that JTAG would also not be required, correct?

    Jim

  • Hi Jim,

Your understanding is correct. The bootlegger is in the flash image.

    regards,

    Vivek
