DLPA200: Testing DLP Chipset , specifically the MBRST lines.

In our product we use DLP chipset to drive a DMD.

For testing the board used to drive the DMD , we use JTAG.

So, via JTAG we can control the  DLPC and DLPR chips with one exception , the  DLPA chip has no JTAG access.

What options do we have for testing the DLPA output lines?

We can use SPI communication , however I wan't able to locate the protocol commands.

We need only basic controlling ability, on/off is good enough.

  • Hello Dima,

    The DLPA200 does not have JTAG.  This is a dedicated ASIC chip.  What chipset are you using?

    The DLPA200 data sheet specifies the use.  The DLPA200 is a switching chip so that it switches between 3 rail voltages, so "off/on" are not an option.  

    This analog driver is expecting communication from the DLPC controller to set up rail voltages that it switches between.

    Thank you for the reply.

    We use:

    DLPR410AYVA

    DLPC410ZYR

    DLPA200PFC.

    As you mentioned, with JTAG, we have a good ability to test the connectivity of the DLPR and DLPC.

    However the DLPA is not accessible, but, using JTAG we can generate serial communication commands from DLPC to DLPA, and in that way generate some test pattern on the DLPA output lines. Switching between rails is also a good option.

    I wasn't able to find the Serial Interface description (command list) to be able to do that.

    Also, another option to drive the DLPA is to utilize DLPC, and communicate with DLPC, which in turn will communicate with DLPA. However the testing environment doesn't have a DMD, so i'm not sure if the initialization of the DLPC is possible...

    Maybe you have some other a testing solution?
