DLPLCRC410EVM: mid-wave infrared single pixel imaging system using DMD

Part Number: DLPLCRC410EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPLCR65NEVM,

Hello,

We want to develop an infrared single pixel imaging system using a TI DMD and an IR detector that we have fabricated.

We have two requirements:

1) We need the operating wavelength to be as long as possible.

2) We need the required circuitry/accessories along with the DMD device so that it is as straightforward as possible to implement the system.

Is DLPLCRC410EVM together with DLPLCR65NEVM the best option considering these two requirements? Would DLPLCRC410EVM + DLPLCR65NEVM provide us with everything needed for the DMD to be operated/controlled by a Windows PC?

Thanks a lot,

Nima

  • Hello Nima,

In terms of wavelength, this would be the closest choice, but mid-wave IR is quite challenging because the DMD micromirror is on the same order of size as the wavelength, making it difficult to get much efficiency at those wavelengths.

Please let us know what your requirements are.

  • Hi Fizix,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

The longer the operating wavelength the better for us. It would be good to have a system that operates up to 4 um. However, if that is not possible, up to 3 um or even 2 um are also acceptable. We want to know whether  DLPLCRC410EVM + DLPLCR65NEVM is our best option considering the two requirements mentioned above.

    Thanks,

    Nima

  • Hello again Nima,

This would likely be your best option.  I ask about your requirements, becuase your efficiency will likely be below 25% as a result of diffraction efficiency.

You will also very likely have to write VHDL code for the APPS_FPGA on the EVM.
