DLPC3433: Firmware PICO Selector delivers always the same firmware

Part Number: DLPC3433
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA2000,

Hi,

I need the firmware for the chips dlpc3433 and dlpa2000 for both i2c addresses. from I see i can get them. However all the binaries for both i2c addresses are identical. Should not they be different? I suppose that is why my display does not work. It only splashes a checkboard but then it does not display the source image. Is there another way were I can get older versions? Maybe the problem is only related to the latest versions.

  • Wladimir,

Welcome to the E2E forums, and thanks for your interest in our DLP technology.

Can you share the exact filenames for the .exe files you are grabbing that you are seeing are identical? Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Philippe Dollo

  • Philippe,

Thanks for your reply, the firmware I obtained from software-dl.ti.com/dlp/pico-fw-selector/.  Specifically, I noticed that all variations of firmware for DLPC 3433 + DLPA 2000 are identical.

For instance, firmware of these two files are suppose to set the i2c address of the DLPC 3433 at different values, then when I do comparison between the binaries they are exactly identical.

    FWSel_DLPC3433_DLPA2000_pm1_i2c0x3a_v7p4p2.exe

    FWSel_DLPC3433_DLPA2000_pm1_i2c0x36_v7p4p2.exe

As far as I understand the firmware should change with the i2c, and pin mapping options I select in the firmware selector form.

Furthermore, the pin mapping pm2 and pm1 also delivers identical firmware. I read in the datasheet that there should be two swap pin mapping options depending on the firmware.

  • Hi Wladimir,

We have compared the binary files and found that what you have said is true. They are identical.

I will be looking into why this may be and will get back to you soon.

    Regards,

    Austin

  • Many thanks, I am looking forward for your answer. As a temporal workaround, could I try to use older versions? Are they somewhere available

    Bests

    Wladimir

  • Wladimir,

Unfortunately, older versions of the firmware are currently not available for download. We will try to deliver a solution as soon as possible (within the next couple of days) on the above.

    Thanks again for your patience.

  • Hello Philippe

Unfortunately I have not received any response about the firmware yet Do you have any news? I am stuck with my design and I would like to know how to proceed. Could you at least confirm me to what pinout and I2C address is refereed the available firmware, so I can do my schematic on that default pinout, considering the current available firmware?

  • Hello Wladimir,

We apologize for the delay. We are still attempting to correct the Firmware Selector Tool.

For the time being, please accept my friend request. I will send you the firmware directly.

    Regards,

    Austin
