DLP5530PROJQ1EVM: Unit is just flashing we are not getting an image

Part Number: DLP5530PROJQ1EVM

DLP5530PROJQ1EVM

We brought this unit and are trying to power up this unit.

We observe only flashes we do not see image getting projected

We have two questions, 1. they are two photodiodes but we have only connector in the kit. Is it necessary to connect both the photodiodes

2.  Referring to

User's Guide
DLPU092–November 2019

in Figure 5 : cable connections

We would like to understand what does the J4 connection between computer and electronics and formatter board does

Please help us to understand why we only see flashes and any procedure to be followed

  • Hello -

I have a few questions in order to help you debug:

    • What video source are you using? Have you connected via micro-HDMI?

    • Have you downloaded the DLPC230 Control Program Lite GUI tool? It can be used to select the video input source. The tool can be found here:

    • Only one photodiode is required. It should be connected from the projector to PD1 connector (J5 designator on the formatter PCB).

    • Regarding connector J4, this is the OpenLDI video interface. This is one of two available inputs for displaying video. The other is micro-HDMI (J3).

  • Hello -

Another suggestion: our team has found that if the power supply cannot support the LEDs, it might perform the following loop: power up, flash on, overload the power supply, turn off, repeat.

Can you confirm that your power supply matches the specs from the User's Guide? Note that the EVM may consume up to 40 Watts, and the power supply must be able to handle this amount.

    Regards,

    Ross
