TIDA-00361

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00361

Hello,

I have several questions about the "portable point cloud generation for 3D scanning using DLP Technology" that can be found at this link: www.ti.com/.../TIDA-00361

The reference design that is proposed on the web named TIDA-00361 includes everything shown in the picture of the website such as the camera and the cables on top of the DLP module ?

What are the spatial resolutions (x,y,height) of such a system ? Working distance ? I need to map a surface area of about 5x5 cm only...

I need in fact to detect surface height variations on a liquid interface (blood in fact) which has a deep red color. Is it possible to project red/black or red/blue stripes patterns ?

What are the typical timescales to obtain a good resolved topography ?

How much does the full configuration costs (DLP+camera+softwares) ?

What do I need to drive it with my lab laptop ?

Thank you for your answers,

Best regards

Manouk

  • Hi Manouk,

Yes, the "Portable Point Cloud Generation for 3D Scanning" reference design includes everything shown in the picture of the website such as the camera and the cables on top of the DLP module.  It contains everything needed to connect to a laptop or desktop.  Please read the user's guide tor minimum system requirements, etc.

The working distance and the resolution can be found in the LightCrafter EVM User's Guide (Table 1-1).  364mm is the minimum focus range.   The throw ratio is 1.66, hence the image will be approximately 219mm x 123mm (for all the 854 x 480 pixels).  The 50mm x 50mm will use approximately 194 x 194 pixels only.

I guess it's possible to project the red/black or red/blue stripes, but you have to experiment and see how good and if acceptable for your application.  Different timescales would have to be tried too.

The total cost is as shown on the webpage: The software is included.
