DLP4500-C350REF: Does any problem happen when DLPC350 port 1 port 2 inputs won't be existed in TI GUI operation?

Dear All,

My customer will start to develop 3D measurement projector it based on TI LightCradter4500 reference design.

They won't use both DLPC350 port1(parallel) and port2(FPD-LINK) input in their design , therefore they will remove any parts around the ports.

In that case , is it OK leaving open all the unused pins of the both ports?

One more question, is there any possibility that this customer would face any problem(GUI crash or something) when they set operate mode to Video mode (or pattern sequence mode with video port) by TI GUI?

Any your advice would be appreciated.

Hi Rossinag,
It is OK to leave both floating when unused. Please refer the the DLPC350 datasheet www.ti.com/.../dlpc350.pdf. The Port 1 has internal pull down . The Port 2 has a weak internal pull down and foot note #9 on page 6 of datasheet documents that Port 2 can be left floating.

Hi Rossinag,
GUI will not crash when switching to Video Mode (or pattern sequence mode with video port), in the video mode the GUI send command to DLPC350 to process video at Port1 or Port2, since there is no signal, the software will not lock to the port, and GUI will also not hang.
