DLP650LE: Expected product life cycle

Part Number: DLP650LE

I am staring a new design based around the DLP650LE Product. I like the product as it meets my requirements, but I am concerned that because it offers the "old" image aspect ration (not HD), it may become obsolete soon. So, I wish to know the expected life cycle of this product, that is how long will this product be available.

How long do you expect this product to be available for (remain in production)?

Thanks,

Mo

  • Hello Mo,

Thank you for using the DLP forums.
We don't have any plans to obsolete this device anytime soon. We actually encourage you to design with this DMD if it meets your requirements.

  • Thanks Oscar,

Ideally, I would like to go with a DLP that does NOT require corner illumination, and has large format (0.65" or larger). As I recall, there was a 1280 x 800 pixel device with a pitch of around 10 um that was designed for side illumination; like the one used in APPOTRONICS A1 Mini Laser Projector. It appears that TI is offering more (new) devices that require corner illumination. Is there a reason for this? My question stems from the fact that corner illumination is (much) harder to achieve ...

  • Hello Mo,

If you are wanting to go with a DMD that is not corner illuminated, check out our DLP660TE. It's 0.66" diagonal size and bottom illumination sounds like what you are looking for.

With our traditional architecture, corner illumination was the most optimal method of operating the DMD. However, with DLP's latest TRP pixel architecture, new DMDs will be bottom illuminated.
