DLP3000: DLP 3000 lightcrafter. booting problem and connection.

Part Number: DLP3000

Hi

I have an DLP3000 that don't connected to GUI. I upgraded firmware dm365 by sd card (san disk 256 MB and 8 GB) according to the steps in user manual and LED colors change according to expectation but booting not completed and RGB lines was not shown in the end. however connection  was made with GUI  and I could successfully update MSP435 and FPGA and Edid by files in software bundle v.3 by GUI. after this in spite of connection with GUI but systems booting not  complete and always splash was shown and I cant to control system by GUI and no change observed with different commends.

please help me.

regards.

Amir

  • Amir,

    Welcome to the E2E forums, and thanks for your interest in our DLP technology.

    Can you please describe what platform you are using? Are you on a DLP LightCrafter system? What do you mean by "cant control system by GUI"? Are you able to send commands but don't see an effect on the system, or are the commands failing to send in the first place?

    Best Regards,
    Philippe Dollo
  • Amir,

    You need to look at the status LEDs; make sure DM365 is booting properly after upgrading the software, if splash image is progressing upto 75% then it is most likely to do with DM365 booting; also ensure the boot switch properly setup NAND boot vs SD card boot.

    Alternatively try SD Boot image see you are able to boot the system.

    You can collect the DM365 UART log and look at the failure.

  • Thank you for your response and attention
    I use dlp3000 lightcrafter. after upgrading, GUI firmware status : DM365: 5.0, FPGA: 2.6.43 and MSP430: 3.0 and connection with laptop is OK. some problems was mentioned in the below:
    1. after power on , booting mode do not complete (stay in near 100) and RGB pattern isn't showing but The connection is established with laptop. does this create a problem?
    2. i used a HDMI-mini HDMI cable which HDMI is connected to HDMI port of laptop. is it correct? in user manual told to use DVI-D port but there isn't this port in my laptop.
    3.is it need to connect HDMI cable for the test pattern and store pattern sequence display modes?
    4. (main problem). all commands send success but in some of these commends no effects are observed on the output. for example in "test pattern" mode, after the pressing "set", in spite of showing the command success but no effect observed in output. also, in stored pattern sequence HW patterns are correctly shown in output but normal patterns type (bmp files) are not shown.

  • Hi Amir,
    1. after power on , booting mode do not complete (stay in near 100) and RGB pattern isn't showing but The connection is established with laptop. does this create a problem?
    >> Yes this is a problem; at the end you should see RGB pattern, refer to www.ti.com/.../dlpu006e.pdf section 2.11 Saving and Loading Solutions verify if it has any solution saved. If so for testing just delete all and then reboot, you must see RGB pattern.
    Did you collect UART debug log this will tell if there is anything going wrong during boot-up

    2. i used a HDMI-mini HDMI cable which HDMI is connected to HDMI port of laptop. is it correct? in user manual told to use DVI-D port but there isn't this port in my laptop.
    >> This is okay, just cross check the detected resolution is 608x684

    3.is it need to connect HDMI cable for the test pattern and store pattern sequence display modes?
    >> not required.

    >> HW patterns internally generated out of DLPC300 controller, there could be issue on the board that video from FPGA is not going to DLPC300 controller.

    The video connection is as follows - both DM365 & HDMI out is muxed through FPGA before feeding to DLPC300.
    DM365 ->
    ->
    [FPGA] -> DLPC300
    ->
    HDMI ->

  • Hi
    Dear Philippe
    unfortunately my problem was not solved. In spite of connection with GUI and firmware status (DM365: 5.0, FPGA: 2.6.43 and MSP430: 3.0), is it possible to DM365 flashed and booted incorrectly? I used a san disk 256 MB sd card. is it need to change sd card?
  • Hi,
    Regarding DM365 flashing through SD card please refer to this technical note and you need to use the specified sd card for this
