Dear Ladies and Gentleman,

We have purchased the 4710 Evaluation module and want to know how to use the TRIG connector. Is there information how to use it?

Some critical questions are:

Is it a Trigger In or Trigger Out?

If it is a Trigger Out under which condiitions it sends a Trigger signal? How can it be configured?

Hello Sebastian,

Could you please confirm whether you bought the DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2 which is our display evaluation module or the DLP4710EVM-LC which is our light control evaluation module. The light control evaluation module has has trigger support and a user's guide showing how to use them at www.ti.com/.../dlpu079.pdf.

We have the DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2 , so does this mean, that the TRIG conenctor in this module can not be used as a trigger connection?

Hello Sebastian,

That is correct, this module is not intended to have trigger in or trigger out functionality like the DLP4710EVM-LC. If you are seeing something different please let me know. I'm not sure what you are referring to as the TRIG connector on the DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2.

Dear Kyle,

I mean the J48 connector. On the Circuit board is also written TRIG. Furthermore in another request of the support forum from some other customer using DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2. one technician give following answer:

"I confirmed with my team. And yes we do have a signal for camera trigger. You can see it here at pin4 of J48 :"

So is this information incorrect then?

Hello Sebastian,

Thanks for clarifying. J48 is not officially supported in the software. TSTPT2 (pin 5 of J48) is intended to output VSYNC which may be useful for you. However, this is just a test point output and is therefore not intended to be a guaranteed feature. If you need more reliable and controllable test points I would suggest the DLP4710EVM-LC.
