DLP2010: Does the "DLP Pico and Light Control EVM" 2010 GUI program only support the Lightcrafter 2010's optical module?

Part Number: DLP2010
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA2005

Hello.

1) We want to use the DLP2010 optical module from your partner Anhuaoe since it has more lumens and also since the optical module provders for Lightcrafter 2010-LC do not respond to our emails.

The optical module has identical parts other than the LEDs which have different voltages and currents. Can we use the "DLP Pico and Light Control EVM" 2010 GUI program to generate a firmware for the optical module by Anhuaoe or does that GUI program only support the LEDs of the optical module made for the Lightcrafter 2010?

2) Also, in any case I would like someone here to also help us connect with Asia Optical, the designers of the optical module for Lightcrafter 2010(-LC). They have been unreachable via their public email address for months.

Thank you.

  • Hi John,

Thank you very much for your post and interest in DLP.

    1. For the new optical module, what is the forward voltage (and current) of the LEDs? Assuming the LEDs are less than 2A and have a forward voltage of less than ~4.7V, you should be good using the current hardware on the DLP2010EVM-LC. The feedback loop on the DLPA2005 will set the VLED for you, so no hardware changes are needed.

The existing firmware will work with the new LEDs (as long as the forward voltage of the LEDs is low enough to be supported by the current Rlim, see DLPA2005 datasheet and DLP2010EVM-LC schematics). You can set the current to your desired value using the Lightcrafter 2010 GUI.

    2) Please send an email to asia_optical@list.ti.com for contact with Asia Optical with your questions regarding the optical module on the DLP2010EVM-LC.

    Thanks,

    Brandon

  • Hi Brandon

    1) The current on the bigger module from Anhua is closer to 3-4A.

That said, they have their own PCB with the same DLPC and DLPA chips. I was wondering if I could use the same GUI software for generating the firmware for the higher current LEDs, not reuse PCB from the Lightcrafter on their optical module which has its own PCB. The connectors are different as well between these.

    2) Thank you but they haven't responded to my email sent to that address way back in June of 2018.

  • Hi John,

Thank you very much for your clarifications!

    1) If the module from Anhua is using the same DLPCXXXX, same DLPAXXXX PMIC and same DLPXXXX DMD you can use EVM Gui to generate the firmware for the new module. Please let us know if you run into any issues!

    2) This list is monitored by Asia Optical and has some TI staff members to help ensure your email is seen. Please try to contact them through this list, and if there is still no response in a reasonable amount of time (1-2 weeks), please add a comment here so we can take the next steps!

    Thanks,

    Brandon

  • 1) Very good, thank you.

    2) I will ask our CEO to email them and let you know if we don't get a response again.

  • Hi John,

I am going to tentatively close this thread. Please let us know if you need further assistance!

    Thanks,

    Brandon

  • Asia Optical has not responded to us since July 10th.

If you can get them to email us, send me a private message and I will send you an email address for them to contact. Or suggest something else.

  • Hi John,

Please accept the friend request I just sent you. If you accept the request, we will be able to send private messages.

Let's work through private messages to resolve this post, as I want to protect your company's IP.

    Thanks,

    Brandon
