Can I use the imaging lens listed below as a projection lens for .47" projector.

Could you please clarify specifically if you are designing your own optics or are looking to do something else .Are you using our DLP4710 EVM?

Hi Tanmay,

You may be able use this projection lens with .47" DMD. However, you need to work through following issues/concerns:

1. This is not a telecentric lens. It may result in lower efficiency and uniformity problem. I do recall from your other post that efficiency may not be a concern and you can digitally pre-process input image to overcome uniformity problem.

2. Please make sure that the lens has sufficient back working distance to accommodate for prism between DMD and lens.

Calculating Throw ratio - The spec sheet say that for 0.5 inch sensor, the FOV is 10.4 degree. The DMD active array diagonal is .47" . The FOV with this lens should be in that neighborhood.

You can calculate actual FOV/Throw ratio based on focal length and DMD size. Please refer to the following E2E post details and you have to follow in reverse.
