DLPLCR70EVM: Maximum laser intensity

Part Number: DLPLCR70EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP7000

HI,

We'd like to use DLPLCR70EVM to spatially shape high intensity laser (~1W) at 532nm. What is the maximum power of the laser this device can take?

Thanks,

  • Hello Shinichi-san,

    1. Are you using a continuous laser or a pulsed laser?  If pulsed:
      1. What repetition rate and pulse width?
      2. Then would the 1 W would be the average power?
    2. Would you be spreading the 1 W over the entire (or nearly the entire) surface of the DMD evenly?  If so, then this power would be fine.  At this wavelength the power density is limited by the temperature of the array, which can be estimated from the formula in the datasheet for the DLP7000 DMD.

What is your application?, this may help in advising you.

  • Hi Fizix,

Thank you for your answer. I'll have a look at the datasheet.

It is continuous laser and the power is spread over the entire DMD. We are using this for a quantum gas experiment, where high power lasers will be used to trap atoms.

    Thanks,
