DLPD4X00KIT: Where to find the serial number of my board

Part Number: DLPD4X00KIT

In order to work with the ALP4.1 drivers by Vialux, I need to know the serial number of my evaluation module, but can't seem to find it anywhere on the board. For what I understand, the serial number should come in the format T41-xxxx-yyyy .

Would you be able to assist with this query?

Thanks, Daniel

  • Hello Daniel,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E forums.

Where and when was this board purchased?

Earlier boards had a sticker on them.  I believe on the side with the FPGA's up near the USB plug.  As shown in the following picture:

If purchased from one of our Design Partners, please contact them for support with the board.

  • Hi Fizix,

    Thanks for your reply.

The board was purchase online on Texas Instruments website on 16 September 2019 by one of my associates. Order Number T00526419. Here's the information on the package

I have checked on my board and the sticker is not present, see photo

Would you be able, with this information, to retrieve the serial number of this board?

    Thanks in advance Fizik,

    Daniel

  • Hello Daniel,

I will have to inquire as to whether this is possible.  This may take several days.

In the meantime, what is asking for your serial number?

    Fizix

  • Hi Fizik,

Yes, please, I would appreciate if you could make an enquire to find out about the serial number. I am happy to wait for the time that it will take.

The reason I require the serial number, is that I would like to use the unit with the ALP4.1 drivers by Vialux. It turns out that to be able to recognize the TI board, the ALP4.1 software needs to be set with the serial number of the board. I have tried to use a generic number but (as expected) that won't work.

    Thanks again for your support.

  • Daniel,

A little further inquiry shows that you need to contact ViALUX about this.  The ALP products use the same hardware, but has its own proprietary VID/PID and APPS_FPGA programming proprietary to ViALUX.  The serial number they are wanting is not NOT a controller board serial number, but a serial number from them.

    Please contact ViLUX.

  • Dear Fizik,

Thanks for following up with this enquiry. However, please note that I had contacted Vialux in the first place explaining the problem, and they suggested to contact TI instead.

According to Vialux the ALP software requires the *Serial Number of the TI board*, something that may look like T41-xxxx-yyyy. (For instance below is the screenshot of their installation software.) I understand this is something TI should provide. As you mentioned in your first message, this number should be displayed on a sticker on the board. As discussed, there is no sticker on the board I've purchased.

My question therefore is the same: Can you please help me find out the serial number of my board?

As an aside, at the moment I am unable to operate the system on a 64bit machine which is quite frustrating - note that the Discovery4100 software from TI does not run on 64 bit. I thought Vialux software could be a way forward....

I trust you'd be able to chase up this serial number.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Daniel,

I am still waiting on a reply.  I have sent another inquiry.

    Fizix

  • Thanks Fizix, much appreciated

  • Daniel,

Apparently the latest Discovery 4100 kits may come without the serial number sticker.

Vialux said to contact them directly for support at dlp@vialux.de if you purchased the ALP-4.1 basic" without "high-speed".  Tell them that "Fizix" referred you.

  • Thanks Fizik, I have forwarded your comments to Vialux and I hope this can be fixed.

In the meantime I had encountered another issue with the board. Since it is not related to this, I'm happy to close this ticket and open a new one with the new enquiry.
