DLPC900: Board bring up issue - JTAG cannot detect the chain

I am current bringing up a new PCA to replace the DLPLCR9000EVM. Currently I can't detect the JTAG chain to the DLP900s using the JTAG Flash Programmer. See attached for screen shots and other details.

My current theory is that the DLPC900s cannot exit the reset state and that is keeping the JTAG from being able to detect the chain. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Paul,

Are you not able to detect the DLPC900 JTAG chain in the EVM? Could you please provide more information on the connections you have made.

In case you have a different board, Make sure the registers are installed as instructed in the below image

Also, Could you please probe the EXT_ARSTZ pin (for both Master and slave) and check whether it is asserted/deasserted?

Please let me know what you found as much as possible so that we get this working at the earliest.

Thanks for your response. I have attached a pdf with my resistor connections.

M_EXTRSTZ is deasserted

Paul,

Here are additional items for you to verify:

1. Since the EXT_ARSTZ line is deasserted (I assume it is 3.3V currently,- Could you please confirm?), CTRL_ARSTZ might be low if you are concluding that the JTAG chain is not getting detected due to reset condition - Could you check this as well?

2. Also, are you able to probe any signal when you connect the JTAG? - This might give us a clue whether the system is really in reset and prove/disprove your theory

3. What is the boardfile (.brd) used?

Also, Did you try to boot the controller from flash?

Glad you got your board working. I will be stating the solution here:

Problem:

TRSTZ line staying low which is not allowing the TAP controller in DLPC900 come out of reset. The JTAG is not able to drive the TRSTZ line high

Solution:

The TRSTZ is now driven by buffer instead of JTAG directly. Thus making TAP controller come out of reset to detect the TMS signals. This happens in some systems and require this connection change.
