DLPLCR6500EVM: DLPLCR6500EVM not responing to user input

Good morning,

it hass been a while since my DLPLCR6500EVM module stopped working as it should be.

In particular, when connected to a USB port, it is impossible to control it from any kind of software (custom and provided by TI).

When I try to control it with the lightcrafter software package, even though the module is connected, it is impossible for me to upload any kind of pattern (the preloaded sequence from TI is not even starting!).

The system control panel shows that the module is in standby, and it is impossibile for me to change it; after I press any mode, it immediately goes back to video mode, again without any possibility for me to change it.

I also tried with a python written custom code, but still it is impossible for me to control it.

Any idea about the possible reasons?

Hello Micro,

This sounds like the firmware has become corrupted somehow. Please reload the default firmware as described in this thread:

Hello Fizix,

thank you for your answer.

I could not find the DLPR900PROM-6500-v5.0.0 file, I guess it has not been installed with the installation package.

Do you have any idea on where I could find it?

My apology, the PROM file is a separate download and can be found on this page:

It is the first item, and the version is 5.0.1 now.

Dear Fizix,

thank you once again for your help, I tried to reload the default firmware but nothing has changed yet, the DMD is not responding to anything.

When I try to change operating mode from video mode to video pattern mode from the GUI, it pops up the error message: invalid controller/DMD; in fact, in the status panel, it is marked as true that controller and DMD are not compatible, even though they have been working well for years.

What could it be the problem?

Micro,

When you start the GUI does the "Connected" under "System Controls" turn green?

Also do the "heartbeat" indicator begin blinking? [D6 as shown on page 16 of the EVM guide - DLPU028]

It sounds like there is a possibility that the DMD itself has become damaged. On the DLPC900 based kits it is possible to damage the DMD if the controller board is handled during operation. Nearly every time replacing the DMD will fix the system.
