Hello TI team,

I have got a question about the input power for DLP4710EVM-LC.

It is written In the user guide that a DC power supply (19 V DC, 4.74 A) should be used.

However, is it possible to use a 12V DC power supply?

It seems good to input lower voltage than 19V according to the specification of input voltage for DLPA3005 and TPS54335A.

It would be helpful if you can give us any opinion for this question.

Unfortunately, the DLP4710EVM-LC is only able to be powered by a 19 VDC power supply.

Would you be able to tell us your need for a 12 VDC supply?

Thank you for the answer.

This is the question from our customer.

They are considering to create their own board by referring to the DLP4710EVM-LC.

On this custom board, they want to input +12V DC to the DLPA3005.

Their system power is 24V and they want to step down to 12V, then input to DLPA3005.

(They do not want to add the circuit to generate 19V.)

So, we would like to know whether they can do this or not.

Hello Nobu-san,

The user will have to make some design changes in the mainboard PCB of DLP4710EVM-LC to operate it at 12v supply voltage.

Thank you for your comment.

I understand that the user can input +12V to DLPA3005 though they have to change the circuit from EVM.

However, our customer is concerning what is the “some design changes” you are saying.

If it is possible, we would like you to list up what kind of circuits they should care.

It is good for them to know some points roughly. So, it would be helpful if you can give us any information about the changes from EVM.

Nobu-san,

The customer will have to uninstall U32 (and all the components associated with it) and connect the Vin net directly to the P12V net in order to change the input supply from 19V to 12V. Please refer to the reference schematic (https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-080005) and let me know if you have any queries w.r.t to making the above changes.
