Hi,

I am trying to connect the DLPDLCR2000 EVM on a BeagleBone Black which is running on TI RTOS application flashed on to it.

I found the guide for setting up the DLP with BBB for Linux environment. https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp/f/94/t/621466

For my TI RTOS based BBB, I dont know how to setup the DLP . I have the following questions:

Q1. How to establish the initial setup between the DLP and BBB running on TI RTOS?

Q2. After establishing the connection, how do I program the device using CCS ? (DLP)

Hi Arshiya,

1. In order to establish the initial setup, please follow the FAQ in the previous thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp/f/94/t/621466. Before powering on the devices, ensure that the DLPDLCR2000EVM is seated on the BeagleBone Black (BBB). Apply power to the EVM first, then apply power to the BBB. It should boot up and display the DLP splash image shown in the FAQ.

2. To program the device, please see the DLPDLCR2000EVM user's guide and the DLPC2607 programmer's guide

The thread you are pointing to is using Linux environment and I don't want to switch to Linux. I have gone through it. As I mentioned earlier, my project is TI RTOS based, I am not using linux in my project and I will be using RTOS to program the DLP.

Can you please give me a suggestion to use the DLP with BBB based on my case?

I will look into this and get back to you soon.

In the meantime, please see if the use of an external display controller can be integrated into your project to drive the DLP system. This controller can drive a DPI signal (required for the DLPDLCR2000EVM) based on the TI RTOS. This is mentioned in a previous thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp/f/94/t/908635.

Hi Arshiya,

Q1) To get the Beaglebone Black (BBB) and the EVM to communicate, you will need to ensure that the BBB is capable of outputting DPI video data that the EVM is able to receive. As long as the TI RTOS on the BBB is capable of outputting this video data, then there will be a display output from the EVM. If the TI RTOS is not capable of outputting DPI, then a dedicated display controller will be needed to convert the video data into DPI format.

Q2) The BBB and EVM will need to communicate via i2c. Please see the DLPC2607 programmer's guide on i2c commands. For how to use code composer studio, please see the documentation on ti.com.
