DLP7000: The angle of emergent light after DMD

Part Number: DLP7000

Hello,

We try to simulate DLP7000 for design of optical system, and I use lighttools for simulaiton,

but When I set the illuminationopticalaxis orientedat 24° relativeto the window normal, the emergent light after DMD has a very large angle, even our projection lens cannot receive enough light beams.

We just set optical property in DMD array surface with simple mirror, its right?

So could TI provide the angle of emergent light after DMD dlp7000,otherwise,give us the files which can define reflection angle of DMD array surface.

Thanks a lot.Hope your help as soon as possible.

  • Hello DearMyShadow,

It is 24° relative to the window normal,  but also 45° relative to the vector pointing to the top of the DMD so that the light is coming in from the upper left corner of the DMD at 24°.  In this case light from the "on" pixels will come out at 0° 24° relative to the window normal (i.e. the DMD normal).  The "off" pixels will come out at 48° relative to the window normal.

  • So could TI provide the file to use in Lighttools? We want to define the optical properties of DMD array surface, but its diffcult to create new one.

  • DearMyShadow,

Lighttools is not a TI product, nor do we use this software  As such we do not have a file to provide you.

In the altitude-azimuth system (top of DMD being "North"), the chief ray of the incident light would be at 66° (24° from normal), 315° (45° counterclockwise from N).
