DLPDLCR2000EVM: Unusual image

Part Number: DLPDLCR2000EVM

Hi Team,

Our customer has been using DLPDLCR2000EVM for a few moths and it worked just fine. Last week, when he turned on the device an unusual image appeared as shown below. What could be the problem with the module?

Regards,

Danilo

  • Danilo,

Looks like a potential issue with the DMD. I recommend verifying the following:

    > Is the DMD data flex cable properly seated? Try reseating the cable connection while power is disconnected?

    > Was the DMD data flex cable disconnected mid operation? This could potentially damage the DMD.

    > What power supply is the customer using? An incorrect supply rating can damage the board/DMD.

  • Hi Philippe,

The customer decided to buy a new DLPDLCR2000EVM, however, the focal length of the new projector is different which is now a problem for the customer since he has his system calibrated to the old projector. Please see the picture of old and new version for reference. The customer would like to know if it is possible to get the old version?

    Regards,

    Danilo

  • Danilo,

Unfortunately, it's not possible. The old optical engine you are referring to (on the right) is no longer in production by Young Optics at this time. If you specifically want the old optical engine your best option might be to contact Young Optics directly to ask for alternative options.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Note that if you do get your hands on a legacy optical engine, it is compatible with both EVM versions (the firmware is the same on both boards).

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi Philippe,

Thank you for the clarification. The customer swapped the optics from the old version of EVM to the new one and it seems working fine.
