Projector Linearity

Hello,

I ran some projector linearity tests on the LightCrafter 4500 and found an oddity I did not expect.

I sent images to the projector over HDMI in pattern sequence mode. These images range from intensity 0-255 incremented by 1 in each consecutive image. Here is a plot of the image intensities from disk:

(The drop at the end is a final black pattern to know when my sequence ended).

Here is the plot of the intensities captured with a camera triggered from the projector:

(Again, the drop at the end is a final black pattern. The high at start is white images at the start of the image sequence).

Removing the white images at the beginning and the black at the end (x axis now has a range from 0-255) show that the "hiccup" takes place at intensity 128 as shown here:

I appreciate how linear this projector's response is for our applications (no gamma adjustment) but was wondering if you knew where this hiccup comes from or if you could reproduce it?

edit: I want to add that I consistently get this result it is not just an infrequent anomaly.

Thanks,

Cole
