DLPC3438: how to get the firmware with different I2C address

Part Number: DLPC3438
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA2005, DLPC3433, DLP3010,

Hi,

We got two img files  (FWSel_DLPC3433_DLPA2005_pm1_i2c0x36_v7p4p2.bin  and FWSel_DLPC3433_DLPA2005_pm1_i2c0x3a_v7p4p2.bin) from http://software-dl.ti.com/dlp/pico-fw-selector/ ..(DLPC3438 / DLP3010 / DLP2005).

But  we found that these files are same binary。

Did I do anything wrong?

Regards

  • Hello Hui Dang,

Welcome to the TI E2E forums and thank you for your interest in DLP. The location of the controller on the I2C bus only changes the I2C address that the firmware needs to be uploaded to.

Is there an error when you are attempting to load the firmware onto your flash device?

    Thank you,

    Chris

  • Hi, Chris'

    Thank you for your response.

We are designing a binocular AR board. So I think that we need two firmwares with different i2c address for different path.

In fact, we mount the same firmware flash into the Right & Lelf paths, but the DLPC3438 are failed to bring up。

the both HOST_IRQ does not go low.and the I2C communication is failed.

So how to get the both firmware for the Right & Left paths ?

    Thanks.

    Hui

  • Hello Hui,

If the HOST_IRQ does not go low, then the DLPC3438 controller is still in its initialization state. If HOST_IRQ is not pulled low by the controller, then there may be a bad connection elsewhere in the system. Ensure that the DLPA2005 power management IC is connected with its RGB LEDs, as well as that the DLP3010 DMD is connected properly.

Please see previous threads using the search function (search for "HOST_IRQ") for other previously recommended debugging techniques.

    Thank you,

    Chris

  • Hello Chris.

We are checking the hardware board follow the documentation(DLPC34xx General System Design Guide Application Note.pdf).

We will debug "HOST_IRQ" signal follow your adveice.

    Thank you for your help.

    Regard.

    Hui

  • Hui,

Thanks for your update. Keep us posted.
