DLP4500: "Unable to read Flash Manufacturer ID" Error PopUp When Uploading Firmware to DLP4500

Part Number: DLP4500

I have 2 Windows 10 pc and 2 PRO4500 projectors (here we call PC A , Projector A, PC B, Projector B)

Both PCs are of Windows 10 Version 1903 (OS Build 18362.295)

Both PCs are having DLPLCR4500GUI-2.0.0 LightCrafter software installed

I plan to upload my firmware to Projector A using PC A, and Projector B using PC B.

As result, PC A is able to upload firmware completely to Projector A, while PC B show error message as shown in screenshot above.
I then try to use PC B to upload firmware to Projector A, also facing same error message.

Why does this happen? Any clue on how can I troubleshoot?

May I know what is the Flash Manufacturer ID mentioned in the error message and how can I avoid this issue?

  • Zhi Wei Lau,

Based on your summary above, it sounds like the problem is occurring from PC B. Were you able to test if Projector B works on PC A?

If so, I recommend you go to your Device Manager on both systems and verify whether the EVMs are being detected as installed USB devices on both systems. You may have a driver problem or otherwise have something not properly configured on the system.

I also note that you are using the Wintech PRO4500 EVM. You may want to reach out to them for additional support.

    I hope this helps.

  • Phillippe Dollo,

Sorry to say that PC A has been shipped out to customer along with projector A. So we unable to carry out the testing.

However, we try to use PC C to upload firmware to Projector B, it can completed successfully. Meanwhile, when we connect Projector B to PC B now, the PC B is able to detect Projector B in device manager and we are able to use the projector from our software smoothly.

Thus I believe that it is not PC B driver configuration problem that cause the issue.

    Thanks.

  • Zhi Wei Lau,

Its good to know that you are now able to communicate with the projector via both the PCs. It will be hard for us to tell what exactly caused the issue. Please reach out to this forum if you face similar issue in the future.
