Problem installing driver for DLP LIghtcrafter under Windows 7 x64

Hi All,

we have problems on installing the LightCrafter driver on one of the 2 machines we have. The computer has Windows 7 x64 and the motherboard is this ASRock. The other PC where the LightCrafter works fine has the same Windows version but a different motherboard. I've created a report that I'm attaching and that might help in understanding the problem. Here I list all the steps I tried with reference to the 3 phases listed in the report:

  • PHASE A: Basically, whichever USB 2.0 port I try, the DLP (that is on and showing vertical bars) is listed in the Device Manager as "Unknown Device" under the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". If I try to follow the user's manual instructions to install the Remote NDIS driver, I'm not successful since I cannot see the driver listed.
  • PHASE B: Initially I thought my Windows version was missing the driver, but eventually I found it. In fact if I try to select a driver for another device listed under "Network adapters" the "Remote NDIS Compatible Device" driver is listed under "Microsoft Corporation" manufacturer.
  • PHASE C: I've tried also to manually select the .inf file by using the "Have a Disk..." button. I tried both the Microsoft driver (netrndis.inf, under ...\Windows\Inf) and the 5756.RNDS_DRIVER.ZIP you provided, with no success. The same error always appears saying "Make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems".

I've checked the .inf files for corruption and I verified they have the correct NTamd64 section, hence I do not think the driver is not compatible with Windows 64-bit. I'm assuming that since the LightCrater is listed under USB devices for some reason the driver is identified as incorrect. I remember that in the other PC where it works it was listed initially under "Other Devices".

Please help, since it is extremely important to have the LightCrafter working on this PC.

Thanks,

Mauro
