RE: DLP6500FYE not connecting

Hello,

we recently contacted you about a problem that we experienced with our DLPLightcrafter 6500. When connecting it to the PC and trying to start the DMD from TI-GUI an error message occured,

saying that a connection to the DMD is not possible.

We were told that adding an additional part UM232H would fix the problem, but it didn't.

Fortunately, we got in touch with another person who has ordered exactly the same model. When we replaced their DMD with our DMD the error message did no longer occure and

our device run without any problem.

Hence it is not a problem of the control board but of the DMD, which seemingly is broken.

Could you please confirm our findings so I can get in touch with our supplier?

Cheers

Daniel

  • Hello Daniel,

I have split your post from the thread you replied to since it was not related and might get overlooked.

I am slightly confused by your description:

Fortunately, we got in touch with another person who has ordered exactly the same model. When we replaced their DMD with our DMD the error message did no longer occur and our device run without any problem.

Hence it is not a problem of the control board but of the DMD, which seemingly is broken.

It sounds like you took the DMD from their working kit and put into your kit and then the kit worked.  Is this correct

When and from what distributor did you buy the kit?

Also could you point to the E2E thread where you first reported the issue?

These will help in getting to a resolution for you.

  • Dear FIzix,

your are right, we replaced our DMD with the an identical DMD and the kit worked.

We ordered it from Mouser electronics.

A colleague of mine started this thread (Jungdong Zhou), sorry for the confusion.

Attached is a jpg-file of his conversation with a TI technician, who suggested that we order UM232H,

which we did, but it didn't solve the problem.

    Kind regards

    Daniel

  • You should be able to purchase just a DMD from distribution to replace your DMD.
