Discovery1100:0.7XGA DMD does not display

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA200

Hi,when I was using Discovery 1100 ,the pattern suddenly disappeared. After powered off and re-power,there are two stripes can be observed.

Then if I load image, the brightness becomes low, while the image also have twp stripes. But after a little time, the image disappeared again.

So what's wrong with it?

Thank you a lot

  • Enid,

We are very sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Discovery 1100 system.

Given the age of the Discovery 1100 systems any number of items may have gone wrong.  Although we no longer support this platform we will suggest some things to check:

    • Check the voltages of the buck/boost regulators on the board to make sure they are correct.
    • This platform used a "DAD1000". Check the rail voltages on it.  They should be around -26V (V_RESET), 7.5V (V_OFFSET), and 26V (V_BIAS).
    • If they are not correct, then check the input voltage with a scope (smooth and no significant ripple) to make sure one of the bulk capacitors has not failed.
    • Similarly check the buck/boost regulator outputs with a scope to see if one of their capacitors has failed.

Beyond that we do not have any further suggestions.

  • Fizix,

Thanks for your reply. It's first time for me to use it and i did not find the circut diagram of DAD1000,so could you tell me where I can check the voltages ?

Another question is that if I change a new DMD,will the problem be solved?

    Thanks,

    Enid

  • Enid,

You can use the DLPA200 data sheet for pinout. There are only three pins that were different - 51, 52, & 54.

On the DLPA200 they are NC (no connect), but on the DAD1000 they were 51 & 52 were 12V_SWL and 54 was VCC. You should not need to check these pins.

  • Fizix,

Thanks for you help. I have checked  the rail voltages on DAD1000,while the VBIAS is 3.14V ,VOFFSET is 3.7V and VRESET is -13.3V.But I also do not konw where to check the voltages or the output of the buck/boost regulators. And after about 5 minutes the voltages on DAD1000 will all become zero , what's wrong with it?

    Thank you ,

    Enid

  • Enid,

Something is definitely very wrong even before the voltages go to zero Those voltage are way too low. I do not know if there is still a schematic around for this anywhere. I cannot find one here.

You may want to scour the web to see if you can find one archived somewhere.
