DLP3000: Looking for life cycle/MTBF/FIT info

Expert 2385 points

Part Number: DLP3000

Hi Ti,

I have faced some issues on the DLP3000 which the mirror stuck in a single direction and it can't be flipped. According to one of the forum that you mentioned that it's within 1 year warranty but in which condition that will prolong the lifespan of this part?

As the failure rate is estimated around 30% of the total usage. Please help to advise further.

  • Hello Electrobud,

Danny mentioned that the warranty is one year. However, if you follow the recommended operating conditions on the DLP3000 and DLPC300 datasheets you should generally be able to ensure much longer operation. It is also important to follow the temperature constraints and other maximum specifications in the device datasheets.

With regards to the 30% failure rate you are discussing, is this your own board or the EVM? Are you having complete DMD failure (i.e. none of the DMD mirrors are responding or something else?). Please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • the warranty and estimated lifespan are different things and I am certain the OP is asking about the latter, in hours. The LEDs are rated from 20,000 - 30,000 hours of operation at rated operation conditions. I imagine the DMD should be close to that. The issue he had is a dead pixel and either caused by defective DMD, physical damage (shock from fall, etc) or other damage such as overheating.
