Linux/DLPNIRNANOEVM: Linux/DLPNIRNANOEVM

Part Number: DLPNIRNANOEVM

Tool/software: Linux

Hello:

How much of the DLP NIRscan Software Bundle for Linux can be used with the DLP NIRscan Nano?

Is there a  DLP NIRscan Nano Software Bundle for Linux?

thank you,

west suhanic

  • Hi West,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the DLP Forums. Unfortunately, the NIRscan SW Bundle for Linux cannot be used on the Nano. This is because the systems have different architectures. The NIRscan actually runs a Linux kernel on it's processor where the Nano does not.

There is no SW bundle for Linux with the NIRscan Nano, but you shouldn't need a specific Linux bundle to get what you need working. Development on the NIRscan Nano is more embedded type programming and should be agnostic to OS. The Spectrum Library and TIVA software source code is available on the DLPNIRNANOEVM product page.

    Hope that helps,
    Paul
  • Hi Paul:

Thank you for the quick reply.

Paul I want to control the NIRscan Nano from a linux box-(gentoo in particular). Is that possible?

(Please note that I have downloaded the code bundle for windows from the web site).

    thank you,

    west suhanic

  • Hi West,

You can control the NIRscan Nano via USB commands. Here is a thread which may be useful to you:

Generally, I would recommend that you download the GUI for windows because it will download the source code if you select that option. From there, you can see how the USB commands are sent and which commands are used. Some functionality will not work such as DFU for updating the firmware on the Tiva, as it depends on a Windows specific DLL.

    I hope that helps,
    Paul
