Question about minimum projection distance

Current I am using DFP technique to measure liquid film flow. As the film is very thin I need the project can work pretty close to the film flow. However, I see lightcrafer4500 has a minimum working distance of 50cm. If it is possible to make lightcrafer4500 working at 35cm (15inch). I guess I need to change the lens of lightcrafer4500. What kind of lens works with lightcrafer, is that work easy to do?

  • Hello Kai Zhang1,

Welcome to the forum! If you want a smaller working distance, you can mount a converging (positive) lens in front of the optics already in place. I suggest starting with lens that has a focal length between 35mm and 50mm, but you will need to experiment with different lenses and their location to find the correct setup for your application.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Blair,

Many thanks for your reply. It is a good idea. I will try some different spherical lens to try to figure out the problem.

    Best.
