Dear customers,
We appreciate your feedback and questions in our E2E forum and are constantly working on further improvements to meet our customer needs. We noticed several requests on how to update/change the splash images on our 4710 EVMs. This feature is currently not supported in our latest DLP LightCrafter GUI therefore we would like to provide a tool which makes it possible to change splash images.
The attached tool only uses the space in flash what is currently already allocated for the splash images. The Update Splash Image tool can be downloaded on the DLPDLCR4710EVM tool page under following link:
http://www.ti.com/tool/dlpdlcr4710evm
Please follow the steps described below to update your splash images on the 4710EVM.
- Open the 4710 EVM GUI and backup the current flash image by executing Backup Firmware.
- Please open the attached Example-build-input.txt file and rename dpp3439-dual-ASIC_0.4.0.img with the backed up image name from Step 1. Note: If the image is not in the same location as the .exe and .txt file the path to the image has to be provided.
- In the same .txt file please add the new splash image name next to splash image. Currently the .txt file has Lighthouse_1280x720.bmp. More images can be added as long as the flash image size does not exceed the allocated splash image space in flash. The sample Example-build-input.txt shows three splash images for the flash.
Note: The image size for the first image has to be 1280x720 to get displayed correctly after power-up. If the image is not in the same location as the .exe and .txt file the path has to be provided. - Please name the new created image like in the example Output_test.img. Save the .txt file and close it.
- Please open the Windows CMD command line and go to the folder location and execute following command: dpp343x_update_splash.exe Example-build-input.text
- The folder will now include a new flash image which can be download with our 4710EVM GUI under Update Firmware
- The folder will also include an Example-built-input.log file which shows any error messages occurring during the firmware build. In case of loading three 1280x720.bmp images as currently shown in the Example-built-input.txt an error will be shown which indicates the allocated splash space is exceeded. Removing one splash image results in a firmware build success.
Best regards,
Nadine
