DLPC3439: DLP4710 chipset - Single ASIC Operation

Part Number: DLPC3439
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4710, , DLPC3433, DLPC3438

Hi,

In the Programmer's Guide DLPU035 related to the DLPC3439 controller, it is mentionned (page 59 of the document) the possibility to operate the DLP4710 chipset in a "Single ASIC" mode.

What does exactely mean this Single ASIC mode of operation? Does it mean that the chipset can only require 1 ASIC to be operated ? In this case : if the video input resolution is below the limit of Single ASIC mode ie. 1280 x 800, is it anyway possible to have the display at max resolution ie. 1920 x 1080 (thanks to the internal rescaler) ? Or is the 2nd controller mandatory in any case to have full resolution of the display ?

Thanks for your reply !
