Starterware/TMS320DM368: Changing the CPLD Registers on the TMS320DM368

Part Number: TMS320DM368

Tool/software: Starterware

I am trying to use the TMS320DM36x as a way to prototype a component video to ethernet module and I thought that this dev kit was the way to do so. Unfortunately I am having issues understanding the software drivers needed to run this dev kit properly. After a day of fussing around with the kit it seems that the default setup for the data path is composite video in to composite video out. In order to change the input video data path to the DSOC, I need to change the CPLD registers that drive the mux control pins. As far as I can tell there is no direct way to do this via a GUI or Windows based machine. All the solutions I have come across reference a Linux based firmware package used to interface to the EMIF. There is also the possibility to modify the firmware directly via the JTAG. Neither of these is ideal for my current situation, so I am just curious if there is an easier, more user friendly way to modify the basic usability of the dev kit? Or is there just something fundamentally that I am missing in order to use the dev kit properly? Any help in pointing me in the correct direction would be of great help.
