TPS62140 (or TPS62140A) - separate PVIN from AVIN

Using a split supply is not recommended for this device. For the given input voltage range, output voltage and current TPS62080 may be a better fit.

I apologize to you for the lack of information.

My customer would like to use TPS62140 for 1 cell(2.7V to 4.2V) and 2 cell(4.0V to 8.4V) applications.

Therefore, the input voltage is necessary more than 8.4V.

The datasheet (e.g. page4) is very clear about that. PVIN and AVIN must be the same source. I don't know the details about this device but usually protection circuits would use both pins. Most likely AVIN is also used to sense the input voltage level for presetting the operating point of the control circuit (input voltage feedforward).

Are AVIN and PVIN used for UVLO circuit (protection circuit)?

If so, I suppose that PVIN can't fall below 2.8V.

PVIN and AVIN voltage can decrease to UVLO threshold voltage before the device turns off.
