External capture device support in DM8168

I am using the latest EZSDK, 5_05_02_00 for DM8168 board. If I want to use TVP5150 as a capture device, what changes needs to be done in the source code. By default the TVP7002 chip is used for capture. I have seen the Limitations in the release notes (ezsdk_5_05_02_00_dm816x_Release_Notes.pdf) as like below:

External video capture is only supported through the TVP7002 video decoder via I2C1. Customers are required to maintain the same configuration on their boards. The EZSDK will support additional capture devices in future releases. Customers will also be able to add capture devices of their choice in future releases.

Whether this SDK supports other TVP chip apart from TVP7002. If not, when the next release will be done from TI.

Hi Margarita,

Are you sure is it possible to add external capture device like TVP5150 apart from the default chip TVP7002. If so, then why it is mentioned as like my above post in the release notes. And one more query is, since I am not using any I/O expander like pcf8575 to select the decoder and the filter in my customized daughter card.

Then how can use these functions ti81xxvin_select_decoder and ti81xxvin_set_mode in my code.

Hello,

There are many community members which are able to use tvp5147 instead of tvp7002 by following this user guide for example. Here is the link for tvp5150.

Dear margarita,

Thank you very much for your inputs. But I want to know is it possible to use the my customized platform with TVP5150 chip without the use of I/O Expansion device. As I mention two functions in the above post. For me, it is not required to configure the device I/O expander. How can I do it without this for my TVP5150 device.

Did you solve this problem? Plz give me some experience!
I've just made a customized board without using PCF8575. I use I2C1 connect directly to TVP7002.
I would like to repair the board-ti8168evm.c to match my hardware design.
