PROCESSOR-SDK-OMAPL137: Suggestions and Reference for Creating your own Custom Board

Hi All,

I know this is a weird question and if the answer is too many things to consider for listing, I would understand.

My team will soon start working on the schematics and layout for the custom board that will run the code I've been running and testing on the Spectrum Digital OMAPL-137. Are there any references or documents that could help me get started on what will the software required? How about the configuration for a custom target? What other pieces I would need to consider for a simple no peripherals support (well maybe toggle a LED)? So far my effort have been primed by examples and TI drivers but it will be nice to know what pieces we will have to take into consideration, on the software side to get the board up and running?

Hi Hoffiz,

On the hardware side, this is the main resource:

On the software side, I'd suggest to start with the GEL files provided in CCS (and the Processor SDK RTOS). Look at the initialization performed there. Once you are able to initialize your board with the gel file (that is pinmux, DDR, PSC, etc...) you can port the configurations to the CSL libraries & compile your bootloader.

The OMAPL-137 does not have support for TI-RTOS so almost all of my development is done with just sys/bios. I have leveraged the the rCSL, drivers from the 138, and examples to add peripheral support. I think that mutes the need for looking at the "Processor SDK RTOS". Is my assumption correct?

Can you expand a little more on: " you can port the configurations to the CSL libraries & compile your bootloader." The only reference I could find is: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Chip_support_library

Hopefully I'm not too lost but most of my development has been through JTAG. I tested once boot-loading through UART and SPI but just once to make sure I could do it.
