TI-API: Let's Encrypt / R3 certificate error: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target for

Part Number: TI-API

I tried to set up the "Inventory Subscription API" but when I try to test it I get the following error:

"I/O error on POST request for \"">inventory.********/.../InventoryNotification.php\": PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target; nested exception is javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target"

We use a certificate from Let's Encrypt / R3. Could this be an issue?

  • Christian,

This may indicate an issue with your certificate used for the API call. If you have recently updated their SSL certificate for the API endpoint then we would need you to have to provide us the update one so we can import that to our certificate store.  Could you confirm this?  In the meantime, I'll confirm if there are any concerns with getting a certificate from "Let's Encrypt / R3".  Also, can you accept my friend request so that we can communicate privately while resolving this?

  • Christian,

In speaking with others on the team, it may be that your API endpoint cannot connect to TI because TI is blocking the connection.  Let me reach out to our security team to confirm if this is the problem.  If so, we should be able to resolve it on our side.   I'll get back to you on tomorrow.

  • This is still in evaluation Christian.  I will keep you posted.

  • Christian,

Glad everything is working for you now.   Let us know if you need any additional help.  I'm closing this thread.
