TUSB546EVM: No video output at 1920x1080 resolution

Part Number: TUSB546EVM

Hi Team,

Our customer bought 2 TUSB546EVM evaluation modules which work fine with a resolution of 1280x720. But with a resolution of 1920x1080 they can't get a video output on the Type C USB of the two modules. Is there any settings on the jumpers that they have to configure?

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

Customer should try tuning the DPEQ values via the DPEQ0 and DPEQ1 pins. I would try increasing to EQ setting 10 by leaving the pins floating. Please ensure that the DP source and monitor/display connected can support the 1920x1080 resolution.

  • Hi Malik,

Thank you for your response. I have shared your suggestion to the customer and here is his feedback.

We have tried your suggestion and removed the jumpers 5 and 6. We tried it with both boards, but had the same problems as before.

    The devices we use are:
-DP source = nvidia jetson nano developer kit with linux
-the display which works is the epson bt-30c
-the display which we have problems is the epson bt-40

With an adapter already on the market we were able to run the jetson nano together with the bt-40 in the high resolution (1920x1080).

Are there any other settings we could check?

    Regards,

    Danilo

  • HI Danilo,

Do you have a USB-C analyzer available? I would like to ass AUX traffic to understand where in link training the process is failing. How long are the cables used? What other DPEQ values have been tried? Keep in mind in GPIO mode TUSB546 need to see a reset to load new EQ value.

  • Hi Danilo and Malik,

we have tried the different DPEG0 and DPEQ1 values (0, R, F, 1) without success (JMP5 and JMP6). After every DPEQ0 and DPEQ1 modification we removed the board frome the power supply. The Cable length is around 1m. We have no usb-c analyzer. Can you recommend us an USB-C analyzer?

Another difference of the two glasses is, that the framerate of the BT40 is 60Hz and of the BT30-C ist 30HZ.

    Regards,

    Christoph

  • Hi Christopher,

With a cable length of 1m I would recommend a DPEQ setting of 3 or 4. I recommend using Lecroy Voyager M310P or MX4.
