THVD8000: Achievable distance on non twisted pair considering 200kbps data rate

Part Number: THVD8000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THVD1505, , TIDA-01171, SN65HVD96

Hi,

looking to replace SN65HVD96DR with THVD1505 and THVD8000,

I was wanting to check, What is the typical distance achievable with these devices on non-twisted pair (considering 200Kbps)?

Your help is much appreciated here

Thank you

C

  • Hi,

Are you using SN65HVD96 like the TI design TIDA-01171? At 200kbps, the distance is mainly limited by the cable's resistive loss. In the THVD8000 design guide, table 2 shows the distance vs. data rate data.

Please be aware, THVD8000 modulates the data to higher frequency. The carrier frequency over data rate ratio is about 10.
