SN65HVD82: Can SN65HVD888 be used instead of SN65HVD82?

Team,

Could HVD888 be used instead of HVD82? Are they P2P dropped-in replacement?
           SN65HVD888 vs SN65HVD82
If not is there a way to make a PCB change to accommodate the use of the two interchangeably?

I have not found any other RS-485 variants with 5V supply and on-chip ESD that could be used as replacement.
Are there other options?

    AnBer,

    A good replacement for the SN65HVD82 is the THVD1510. This device is 5V supply, and has integrated ESD protection. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Right now I am looking for an alternative that is available on TI.COM in SOIC package. HVD888 is available on TI.COM (at least today).
    THVD1510 is not.
    Of course I will push customer to the THVD15xx family for future designs.

    Can you please confirm if 82 and 888 are P2P dropped-in replacement?
    Would PCB change be required?

    Oh okay, understood, the supply issues around the world are causing troubles for everyone unfortunately. The SN65HVD82 and SN65HVD888 are very similar, but the input thresholds are different between the devices. The SN65HVD82 has integrated failsafe biasing so that in an idle bus state (differential is between -100mV and +100mV) the receiver is in a known state, whereas the SN65HVD888 will be in an indeterminate state. If this is not a problem, then yes the SN65HVD888 can replace the SN65HVD82.
