DS90UB953-Q1: DS90UB953-Q1: Transmission error between ub953 and ub954

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hi, TI engineers.

I am currently building my system with UB954, UB953. I designed my own ub953 board, which is connected with ti's ub954 development board. Although the image can come out, there will be tearing in the image.

I have dumped all the registers of 954, as shown in the figure below.

I compare the values of these registers with the normal state, the values of 0x37\0x4E\0x53\0x54\0x7A\0x7B  are different.  Could you help me find the reason? What should I do to make it normal?

  • Hi Kui,

Thank you for your question. I've taken an initial pass at the register data you attached. There are several register fields that show issues with lock status changing (0x4D:0), line length stability (0x4E:7) and changes (0x4E:6), encode errors (0x4E:5) and CSI errors (0x7A).

Do you also have the 953 register data available that could help with the investigation?

    Regards,

    Logan

  • Hi Logan,

Thanks for your  timely response, I'll post the register list of 953 below.

Yesterday, I made some attempts. When the power supply of 953 did not pass the POC, it directly supplied power to 953, and the image became normal.

The register list of 954 is shown in the figure below.

  • Hi Kui,

Thanks for the additional details and register list.

If I'm understanding correctly, when you isolated the 953 power from POC and used a separate power supply, the issue was fixed?

Can you link a schematic for reference?

Also, have you probed and verified that the POC output and regulator output is stable and as expected?

    Regards,

    Logan

  • Hi Logan,

            Thanks for your timely response.

You're right, when i isolated the 953 power from POC and used a separate power supply,  the image is normal. I don't know if this is the key to the problem, but the image is normal.

the POC output and regulator output is stable and as expected.

  • Hi Kui,

Most of the registers of interest in the 953 do not signify the issues found in the 954 registers. Can you verify that this register dump is from the tearing image configuration using POC, or is it the 100% operational configuration using bench power?

    Regards,

    Loagn

  • Hi Logan,

Maybe I found the key to the problem. On my board, the 47ohm bead layout is a little far away from fakra, which may not filter some burr of power supply, which leads to unstable signal. When I weld another magnetic bead next to fakra, the problem is solved.
